The easiest way to refresh your wardrobe…

Luxury accessories are high-impact, low-commitment updates to an existing wardrobe. A single piece can shift the mood of a familiar outfit without changing anything else.

Tom Ford’s Bronson sunglasses can elevate a simple outfit combination in a heartbeat, adding character and shape in one statement accessory. For luxury shoppers building their first wardrobe, the Jacquemus L'Écharpe is an ideal entry point – just drape loosely over a tailored coat and let the logo define your look.

How to wear what’s trending without looking like everyone else

Search data reveals which pieces are gaining momentum. The challenge for most wardrobes is deciding how those items fit into personal style without feeling overly trend-driven.

According to Doralice Belli, Head of Merchandising at FARFETCH, the answer lies in balance. Popular pieces work best when they sit alongside garments that already define how someone dresses.

“High-demand products shouldn’t replace your wardrobe identity,” Doralice explains. “They work best when they complement pieces you already rely on.”

1. Start with a strong foundation

The strongest outfits tend to begin with something familiar: a well-cut coat, straight-leg denim, refined knitwear or polished leather shoes. These pieces establish the tone of the look before anything trend-led enters the picture.

“A popular trainer like the New Balance 9060 can feel completely different depending on what surrounds it,” Doralice says. “When the foundation of the outfit is consistent with your own style, the shoe reads as a deliberate choice rather than a trend.”

2. Let one piece lead

When a product is highly recognizable, restraint tends to create the strongest effect. One distinctive element, a sculptural trainer, a sharply shaped pair of sunglasses, or a statement bag, is usually enough to shift the mood of an outfit.

“An accessory like the Marc Jacobs The Tote Bag has a strong identity on its own,” Doralice notes. “It doesn’t need competition from several other statement items, so let it shine by pairing with more understated garments.”

3. Style it differently from the expected

When a product becomes widely visible, styling is what separates one look from another.

A bold sports shoe might be paired with relaxed denim in one outfit, or with fluid tailoring in another. A slim silhouette, such as the Adidas Samba or Tokyo, can sharpen oversized coats or balance wide-leg trousers. Even performance footwear like On Cloud trainers reads differently when worn with structured layers instead of athletic pieces.

“The goal isn’t to recreate how a product appears in campaign imagery,” Doralice says. “It’s to make it work within the way you already dress. Remember: popular doesn’t have to mean predictable! For me, the most interesting wardrobes interpret what’s trending within the context of individual style and identity.”

Methodology

FARFETCH is a global luxury fashion platform operating at the intersection of fashion, culture, and technology. With a unique view of how trends move across markets, categories, and time, FARFETCH combines cultural insight with data-led analysis to better understand how luxury fashion evolves, and why certain styles endure.

We used FARFETCH internal sales data to create a shortlist of around 300 of the best-selling products of the last year, across clothing, shoes, accessories, and bags.

For each item, we used Google Ads Keyword Planner to find the number of global searches in 2025.
